The McMillin and related families, pioneers of Louisville and Winston County, Mississippi, will be gathering for their 50th reunion at Lake Tiak-O’Khata in Louisville on August 19-20, 2000.

Included on the list of related family names are Baramore, Bennett, Boswell, Brown, Cagle, Carlisle, Carr, Chambliss, Clark, Cooper, Cunningham, Green, Hopkins, Jones, Leak, Liebenfield, Malone, McCahan, McCullough, McCully, McDaniel, Morgan, Nelson, Richardson, Roberts, Rush, Unger, Watson, Whitehead and Woodward.

Events will be open to all members of the listed families and their relatives and, of course, this will be the perfect opportunity to do a little more family research and enjoy the company of the actual family members themselves.

Plans include a hamburger cookout by the Lake on Saturday followed by a concert of Celtic and Scottish music featuring entertainers Amber and Stephanie Mullinax of North Carolina and Red McWilliams of Fort Worth, Texas.

A slide show of the June 2000 Clan MacMillan gathering at Finlaystone Estate, Scotland, will be presented by Lamar McMillin, Jr. after the concert.

Sunday plans offer a worship service followed by the group’s business meeting and one of Lake Tiak-O’Khata’s famous lunches at Honeysuckle Hall.

4 Patricia Ann Morgan (P.O.Box 1713, Laurel, Miss. 39440) seeks information on JOE TOMMY PRUITT and Tressie Mae QUILL Pruitt. Joe Tommy was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, in 1909 and Tressie Mae was born in Newton County, Mississippi in 1919. In 1947 the couple lived at Route 1, Carson, Mississippi. Joe Tommy was a laundry employee and Tressie Mae was listed as a housewife at this time. Any information about this family will be greatly appreciated.

4 Sharon K. Pierce (883 Hwy 17, Canton, Mississippi 39046) is searching for any and all information on JOHN S. JOHNSON. John was born about 1812 in Alabama or Georgia and died in Mississippi in 1882. He is buried in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Newton County, Mississippi. He married Sarah BISHOP who was born in Tennessee in 1816. The couple had seven children including Emiline (born 1836); Solomon (born 1838); Daniel (born 1841, married Mary F. GILES in Lauderdale County, Mississippi in 1868); Sterling (born 1845, died and buried in Suqualena, Lauderdale County 1916, married Sarah W. GILES); Sarah Ann (born 1847, possibly married to Harrison RYALS, son of Jesse Ryals and Narcissa LAWRENCE); George (born 1849, married Martha MOSLEY); and Albert (born 1854, died and buried in Suqualena in

1941, married Mary HIGGENBOTHAM). It is believed that John Johnson’s father was the Reverend Henry H. Johnson, son of William and Dianna ADAMS Johnson who was born 15 May 1790 and died 29 September 1862. Henry married Annie LOVY who was born in 1797 and died 6 September 1840. Both are buried in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Newton County. They may have also had sons Benjamin (born 1813) and Sterling (born about 1818). Can any reader help with more information on this family?

4 Kathy H. Rhodes (2348 Wimbledon Circle, Franklin, Tennessee 37069, email-kathy@genisysgroup.com) is looking for descendants of BENJAMIN HENRY and Rachel HARDY Henry who moved from Kemper County, Mississippi, to Sunflower County, Mississippi in the 1850’s.

Their children were Sarah, John, Benjamin, Franklin, James, Andrew, Catherine, and Matilda all born between 1834 and 1849. Rachel was the oldest child of nine born to Andrew and Sarah Hardy who moved to Mississippi from Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Andrew and Sarah are Ms. Rhodes great great great grandparents. Rachel and her descendants have been lost to the rest of the Hardy family who have recently formed a family group and are trying to locate these relatives.
