FAYETTE –&160;The son of Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker died this weekend in a one-car accident.
Jamaras Q. Walker, 17, was driving a pickup along Woodbend&160;Road/Red Brick Church Road when the accident happened, said Jefferson County Investigator Glynn Holiday. Walker’s truck apparently came around a curve and drove off the road into a ditch.
Deputies are not certain of the time of the accident, but think it took place between late Friday evening and about 5 a.m. Saturday, Holiday said.
Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other details on the accident were not available Monday but alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, he said.
Walker was to start his senior year at Jefferson County High School Monday.
Marcus Walton, a Jefferson County High School teacher and coach, said fellow students nicknamed Walker &uot;Little Walker.&uot;
He said the teenager carried himself well under the pressure of being the sheriff’s son.
&uot;He was a nice young man – well mannered – came to school every day (and) was very respectful,&uot; Walton said.
Walton said some of the seniors were in shock over the accident Monday, which was the first day of school for Jefferson County.
&uot;We will greatly miss him,&uot;&160;Walton said.
