Stealing two puppies landed a Natchez man 25 years in jail this week. Sharron Webster, 32, no address available, was sentenced this week as an habitual offender on a burglary charge.
Webster pleaded guilty to the burglary of a house on Brown Lane, in which two puppies were stolen, said E. Vincent Davis, assistant district attorney.
To qualify as an habitual offender, Webster had to have at least two prior felony convictions. As an habitual offender, Webster must serve every day of his 25-year sentence without benefit of early release.
Webster was out on bond awaiting trial in this case when he was arrested again — charged with the Sept. 4 burglary of a storehouse.
During that time, about 14 other burglaries took place in the same general area as the storehouse. Webster’s fingerprints were found at one of the scenes of those burglaries, Adams County Court documents stated. All of the burglaries were similar in nature, but Webster has not been charged with any of those burglaries nor do prosecutors have proof he was responsible, Davis said.
