Low-flying aircraft may need to avoid the Natchez area Friday night when Jonathan Honea and the Pine Hills Wildcats face off against Chad Ridley and the Trinity Saints at 7:30 in what Trinity coach David King said will likely be a high-scoring affair.

&uot;But I don’t know if that’s good for us or not,&uot; he said.

The Saints (2-2) only scored once last week in a loss to Chamberlain-Hunt. That loss makes this district match-up all the more important, King said.

&uot;You can’t expect to go 0-2 in your district and make the play-offs,&uot; he said. &uot;This is a big game for us.&uot;

This is Pine Hills’ first district game. &uot;They are a deceiving 1-3,&uot; King said of the Wildcats. &uot;They’ve faced some tough teams.&uot;

King said first on his list of priorities is stopping Division I quarterback prospect Honea.

&uot;He’s 6-foot-five, 235 pounds. He’s a gifted athlete. We’re going to have to contain him,&uot; King said.

Pine Hills coach Andy Hopkins said controlling the scrambling ability of Saints quarterback Ridley is an integral part of his game plan.

&uot;If we can contain him, I think we can play ball with them,&uot; he said.

Both coaches agreed that Trinity’s skill players have more speed.

Dexter at Cathedral

Cathedral High’s varsity football team plays its first home game of the season tonight against the Dexter Bulldawgs at D’Evereaux Stadium.

Head football coach Ken Beesley, Sr. said his team needs to take care of the ball on offense to win the game.

In a 17-13 District 7-2A loss to Richland a week ago, Cathedral committed six turnovers.

&uot;We’ve played hard and the effort’s there,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;We’ve just had too many turnovers. We’ve played well enough to be 2-0, but we’re 0-2.&uot;

Among the things Beesley said his team has worked on in practice this week are ball-handling drills and the passing game.

Beesley said Dexter (1-2) will run a variation of the Notre Dame Box and use two tight ends on offense, and a 5-3 defense.
