Vidalia ready for Ouachita

When Vidalia faced Ouachita Christian last season, the Vikings put on an offensive clinic, winning the match-up 62-37.
Although his team is coming off a 6-0 loss to Winnsboro last week in which the Vikings managed only 178 total yards, Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth isn’t worried about this year’s offense.
&uot;Winnsboro played a good defensive game,&uot; he said. &uot;We’re their chief rivals, and they stuffed us.
&uot;But we played a tough defensive game too,&uot; he added.
Faircloth will need a good game on both sides of the ball Friday when he and the Vikings (2-1) head to Monroe to face Ouachita Christian (2-1), currently ranked No. 7 in the state among 2A teams.
&uot;They’ve had a tremendous record throughout the years. They always produce outstanding college players,&uot; Faircloth said. Two Ouachita Christian offensive linemen have already agreed to play for LSU next year, Faircloth added.
&uot;They average about 6-foot-4 across the front,&uot; he said. &uot;They’ve got some huge young ‘uns.&uot;
That offensive line will protect a pro-set offensive look that will use a passing and running attack, Faircloth said.
&uot;They’ve always had a great passing quarterback, and they like to throw,&uot; he said. &uot;But they’ve got a good halfback, too, and he can scoot.&uot;
The Vikings are changing very little in practice this week to prepare for Ouachita, Faircloth said.
&uot;We’ve done a little more live scrimmaging this week,&uot; he said. &uot;We’ve been more successful when we do that.&uot;
