JACKSON – The Natchez Bulldogs lost their fourth-straight road game and dropped to 1-5 for the year after a 35-16 loss to the Jackson Provine Rams Friday.

&uot;It was a game,&uot; Natchez coach Elbert &uot;Mo&uot; Lyles said. &uot;It went down to the third and fourth quarter.&uot;

Natchez only trailed 22-16 heading into the fourth, but two turnovers resulted in two quick Provine scores.

&uot;It’s tough to get back from that in the fourth,&uot; Lyles said.

Fullback Chris McDonald scored first for Natchez on a 2-yard dive, and quarterback Donald Butler scored in the third quarter on a 20-yard run.

Butler threw 7-for-14, but had three interceptions. Roderick Conner led the Bulldogs in rushing with 68 yards on 12 attempts.

Edwin Skipper had two catches for 38 yards.

The Bulldogs (0-2 in district play) return home this Friday to face Jim Hill for homecoming.

&uot;I hope the homecoming game will pep us up,&uot; Lyles said.

&uot;We need some thing to help us when a ball game.

&uot;The kids need to feel a win.&uot;

Centreville 28, Central Private 6

Centreville Academy running back B.J. Robertson ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 28-6 win over Central Private in an MPSA District 4-3A match Friday night at Central Private.

Robertson had a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 33-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Johnathon Newman scored from six yards out in the first quarter and Josh Jones completed a 22-yard TD pass to John Vincent in the second quarter.

Jones completed four of 13 passes for 103 yards and Vincent had three receptions for 77 yards.

Centreville’s defense held Central Private to 149 total yards of offense.

Central Private’s only points of the game came in the fourth quarter on a 44-yard run by Gregory Pogue.

Centreville (5-2, 2-0) hosts Bowling Green next at 7 p.m. Friday.
