Ferriday flies past Crowville

CROWVILLE, La. – The Ferriday High Trojans, ranked ninth in the state in Class AA, got 550 total rushing yards on offense and another shutout from its defense for a 46-0 victory over Crowville in a District 3-AA matchup Friday night.
&uot;We played well. Crowville’s not a very good team, but they played hard,&uot; said Ferriday head coach James McFarland.
Ferriday’s defense recorded its fourth shutout of the season and held Crowville to 126 total yards of offense.
&uot;Our defense we knew would be our strong point,&uot; McFarland said.
Quarterback Tyrrence Taylor completed three of nine passes for 95 yards and no interceptions.
Corey Gordon led Ferriday’s rushing attack with 288 yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns.
&uot;He’s been our workhorse all year,&uot; McFarland said. &uot;He’s really running hard and running well.&uot;
Ferriday took control of the game in the first quarter with three touchdowns, the first one a 35-yard run by Lawrence Washington and the other two on runs of 10 and 45 yards by Gordon.
&uot;We wanted to come out and control the game,&uot; McFarland said. &uot;We’ve got good overall players.&uot;
Brennan Smith scored on a 55-yard run in the second quarter. Taylor threw to Washington for the two-point conversion to give the Trojans a 26-0 halftime lead.
Smith scored again on an 18-yard run and Gordon scored his third touchdown of the game on a 38-yard run in the third quarter.
Gordon then scored on a 28-yard run in the fourth quarter for the final score of the game. Ferriday is 6-0 overall and 1-0 in district play.
