In a game that has no bearing on Adams County Christian School’s playoff picture, one might expect coach Bo Swilley and his Rebels to take it easy in a road game against Riverfield Friday.

Not a chance.

For a team that was winless until the sixth week of the season, every win counts, Swilley said. And with the post-season starting the following week with a game at Manchester, Swilley doesn’t want his Rebs skipping a beat.

&uot;It’s an important game,&uot; he said of the Riverfield match-up. &uot;We’re at a point that we need to play well and win. That confidence can carry us a long way.&uot;

The team’s confidence would skyrocket with a win of Riverfield, a playoff team that won its district last week.

&uot;They’re a pretty good football team,&uot; Swilley said. &uot;They’ve got some really big backs. They don’t throw exceptionally well, but they throw enough to keep you honest.&uot;

On defense, Swilley said Riverfield’s strength lies in its defensive line and linebackers.

&uot;If they’ve got a weakness, it’s their defensive backs,&uot; Swilley said.

Good news for Rebels quarterback Ty Smith, who may be without a few of his supporting cast, both on offense and defense, due to injuries.

Starters Chase Bradford, Russ Skates, Boo Burchfield and Drew Hall are all questionable for Friday, Swilley said

&uot;It’s only a concern if anybody else gets injured,&uot; Swilley said. &uot;We’ve effectively lost our depth.&uot;

Swilley said his main goal on defense will be to stop the run, while on offense he wants to play with consistency.

&uot;We can’t have turnovers and blown assignments,&uot; he said.
