Cathedral looks to end the regular season with two straight wins as the Green Wave travels to Bogue Chitto for a non-district game against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Led by sophomore tailback Ja’Mel Jackson’s 266 yards rushing and five touchdowns, Cathedral picked up its first victory of the season last Friday night, an impressive 46-6 rout of the outmanned Hinds AHS War Dawgs.

&uot;Practice has been okay this week,&uot; Cathedral head coach Ken Beesley Sr. said. &uot;We were excited about winning the game last Friday. I thought we’d be a little more spirited, but we’ll be ready for Friday’s game.&uot;

Cathedral will need to be ready for playoff-bound Bogue Chitto, which will go into the game with a 5-5 record and a second-place finish in District 7-1A.

&uot;Bogue Chitto is a power-type team,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;The thing that worries me is their power and size.&uot;

Bogue Chitto primarily runs a power-I and a triple-I formation with some option on offense and a 4-man front with some 5-3 on defense, he said.

&uot;They have a real big line and some big backs,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;If you try to put eight men up on the line of scrimmage (to stop the run), they will throw to the split end.&uot;
