YAZOO CITY – The Adams County Christian School Rebels were eliminated from the MPSA Class 3A playoffs in the first round Friday after a 37-0 loss to the Manchester Academy Mavericks.

The two teams had met already this season, with Manchester winning the Sept. 16 match-up by a much-closer margin of 22-14.

The Mavericks apparently saved some surprises for the post-season, as they scored five rushing touchdowns while holding the Rebels to only 39 yards on the ground.

Manchester took an early lead that forced the Rebels into an early passing situation. Quarterback Ty Smith finished the game 14-of-33 for 120 yards with one interception.

Brent Sanders did most of the damage for Manchester, punishing the Rebel defense for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.
