Ruth Johnson-Lomax

Jan. 27, 1903 – Nov. 4, 2000

Memorial services for Ruth Johnson-Lomax, 97, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Park View Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Mrs. Lomax was born Jan. 27, 1903, in Natchez, the daughter of Robert Johnson and Sidney Grinnell.

She was a longtime resident of Natchez and a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lomas was preceded in death by one son, Clarence E. Lomax I.

Survivors include one grandson, Clarence Lomax II and his wife, Valarie; two great-grandchildren, Clarence E. Lomax III and Deshae Lomax, all of Vicksburg; one first cousin, James Mingee of Natchez; several other cousins, L.V. Bious Blunt of De Ridder, La., and her sister, Mattie of Los Angeles, Arlene Grinnell of Natchez, Cedric Grinnell of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Doris Barfield, Frances R. McNeely, Robert McNeely, Katie Dukes, Eva Williams, all of Natchez and Edna Cooper of Jackson.

Estella Marshall Green

PATTISON – Services for Estella Marshall Green, 60, who died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Forest Grove Christian Church with Elder Willie Nelson officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. with happy hour from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

She was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church.

Survivors include friend, Willie J. O’Quinn of Lorman; one daughter, Deborah Porter of Chicago; her mother, Aurilla D. Hill of Port Gibson; three brothers, Carl Hill of Port Gibson, Robert Becks of Vallejo, Calif., and Arthur Marshall of New Mexico; one sister, Lucille Davis Turner of Port Gibson; three uncles, William Bates of Chicago, James Marshall of Waukegan, Ill., and Johnnie Polk of Fort Worth, Texas; six aunts, Lillie M. Green of St. Louis, Mo., Hazel Dixon of Oakland, Calif., Johnnie Marshall of Fort Worth, Jean Prater of Port Gibson, Minnie Pender of Boston, Mass., and Emma Thompson of Waukegan; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marise Sylvest Douga

JONESVILLE, La. – Services for Marise Sylvest Douga, 78, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Jonesville, who died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in Baton Rouge, will be at 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. David H. Campbell officiating.

Burial will be at the Heard’s Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Douga was born July 5, 1922, in Columbia, the daughter of Cate and Furl Sylvest.

She was retired from the Louisiana Dept. of Labor and a member of Goodwood Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. She was a resident of Baton Rouge for 48 years.

Mrs. Douga was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lafe Sylvest; and one great-grandchild, Brian Bailey McCarver.

Survivors include her husband, D.J. &uot;Jack&uot; Douga of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Kay McCarver of Jonesville; one brother, Fred Sylvest of Lumberton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and J.D. Weeks of Natchez, Brian and Jessica McCarver of Harrisonburg, and Michele and Bill Little Jr. of Enterprise; and three great-grandchildren, Chad Foster, Whitney Weeks and Heather Weeks.

Sept. 21, 2000 – Nov. 5, 2000

Services for Infant Joshua Danny Eidt, who died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Revs. Alfred Camp and Walter Brown officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Joshua was born Sept. 21, 2000, in Natchez, the son of Daniel James and Stehanie Paige Thompson Eidt.

Joshua was preceded in death by paternal great-grandmother, Rosalie S. Eidt.

Survivors include his parents, Danny and Stephanie Eidt; one sister, Karrigan Lea Ann Eidt; brother, Zachary Tate Baker; twin brother, Colton James Eidt, all of Natchez; paternal grandparents, Robert and Sandra Eidt of Natchez; maternal grandfather, Donnie W. Thompson and his wife, Michelle of Natchez; two maternal grandmothers and their husbands, Scottie Broom and Clark of Huntsville, Ala., and Connie Gibson and Mike of Vidalia, La.; maternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Opal McGuire of Natchez and Winford and Helen Drane at St. Augustine, Fla.; paternal great-grandfather, James A. Eidt of Natchez; paternal great-grandmother, Ethel McNally of New Jersey.

Pallbearers will be Paul Smith and Malcolm Anders.

Brady C. Wiley

Aug. 13, 1924 – Nov. 5, 2000

JONESVILLE, La. – Services for Brady C. &uot;Paw Paw&uot; Wiley, 76, of Jonesville, who died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Winnsboro, were Tuesday at Jonesville First Baptist Church where the Revs. Lloyd Trisler, James Carson and David Carlton officiated.

Burial was at Jena Cemetery in Jena, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Wiley was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Larto, the son of Carey and Martha Wiley.

He was retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Rifle Assoc.

Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carey Lee Beard; and one sister, Myrtle Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Wiley of Jonesville; one daughter and her husband, Emilye Jane Chapman and W.C. of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Patricia Lee Marceaux, George and Melanie Beard, Angela Chapman, Christina Chapman and Amy Chapman; one brother, Willard Wiley of Jonesville; one sister, Ruth Dosher of Jonesville; and 12 great-grandchildren, Iry, Camille, Brandie and Crystal Marceaux, Dustin and Jesse Beard, Andrea Chapman, Allyson Wooley, Kirk and Heather Ford, Michael Temple and Blake Hathaway; and four great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Marisa, Mallorie and Lela Marceaux.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Beard, Jesse Beard, Ivy Marceaux, Charles Harris, Charlie Dosher, Ben Dosher, David Devine and Jeremy Smith.
