Concordia inmate escapes during medical treatment

Authorities are still searching for a St. Joseph woman who escaped from Concordia Parish deputies while receiving treatment for injuries sustained during her arrest Friday.

Jewel H. Hanalson, 40, St. Joseph, was under arrest for two counts of remaining on premises after being forbidden and two counts of disturbing the peace. Her bond was set at $1,500.

According to sheriff’s department reports, Hanalson walked out of Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday when an X-ray technician left the room to turn on the machine.

The report stated that Hanalson was receiving treatment after falling out of a patrol car.

Kathleen Stevens, sheriff’s department spokesperson, said warrants for Hanalson’s capture were issued late Monday afternoon.
