Trinity Episcopal’s varsity boys and girls basketball team came away with impressive wins Saturday against Amite School Center in MPSA District 5-1A action at Clyde Adams Arena.
The Saints used a 29-10 second quarter for a 67-37 win over the Rebels in the varsity boys contest.
Brett Mount led Trinity (12-3, 5-0) with 16 points, including five three-pointers. Gregory Ketchings added 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
&uot;I thought Gregory played real well and Brett came in and hit some good shots,&uot; said Saints head coach David King.
After a career-high 39-point performance against Ben’s Ford on Friday night, Chad Ridley had an off game due to foul trouble, finishing with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three steals.
&uot;To have an off night and still have those numbers is something,&uot; King said.
&uot;It wasn’t as fundamentally sound as we would’ve liked,&uot; King said of the win. &uot;Nonetheless, we’re still No. 1 in district at 5-0. We took care of business at home.&uot;
Trinity out-rebounded the Rebels 55-31 and had 20 steals to 16 for the Rebels.
William Dillon led the Rebels (1-8, 1-4) with eight points.
In the varsity girls game, the Lady Saints easily defeated the Lady Rebels 70-24.

Trinity (17-3, 5-0) scored the first 13 points of the game and the first eight points of the second quarter as the Lady Saints took a 43-10 halftime lead over the Lady Rebels (4-6, 2-3).
&uot;The last two games we’ve executed well on offense, and our defense played better tonight,&uot; said Lady Saints head coach Melanie Hall.
Trinity blocked seven shots and also hit 9-of-10 free throws.
Brooke Harden led the Lady Rebels with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Trinity next plays at Huntington in district action for four games at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
