Trinity tops Pine Hills; Cathedral splits games with St. Al

Trinity’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams had little trouble with Pine Hills Academy in MPSA District 5-1A action Friday night in Gloster.
In the varsity boys game, Chase Brown had a triple-double in leading the Saints to a 79-26 win over the Wildcats.
Brown led Trinity (14-3, 7-0) with 23 points, 11 assists and 10 steals.
In the varsity girls game, Vanessa Gordon led four Trinity players in double figures with 16 points as the Lady Saints (19-3, 7-0) defeated the Lady Wildcats 80-25.
Raven Adams led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points.
Trinity next plays at Ben’s Ford in district action for four games in Bogalusa, La., at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Cathedral High split with St. Aloysius Friday night at St. Aloysius.
In the varsity boys game, Cathedral outscored St. Al 13-5 in the overtime period to come away with a 61-53 win.
&uot;It was exciting,&uot; said Green Wave head coach Ken Beesley Jr. &uot;The kids played hard and made some shots. They came out strong in overtime and held on.&uot;
Willie Clark led Cathedral (2-11) with 20 points and Bart Lane added 13 points.
In the varsity girls game, St. Al defeated Cathedral 58-38.
Kate Prescott led Cathedral (6-6) with 16 points and Mary Margaret Alwood added 10 points.
Cathedral next hosts Monterey at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
