Tigers trounce Rebels

Adams County Christian School lost a pair of MPSA District 4-3A home games Friday to Centreville Academy, as the Tigers beat the Rebels 75-56 and the Lady Tigers edged the Lady Rebels 45-41.
ACCS led 17-10 at the end of the first quarter in the boys varsity game, but Centreville rallied to take a 33-25 halftime lead.
The Tigers then exploded for 31 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Rebels (1-16, 0-6).
John Vincent scored 36 points to lead Centreville. Derrick Shipley scored 15 points and matthew Perkins added 10.
Ty Smith lead ACCS with 18 points and Trey Mardis added 12. Beau Brashier chipped in with 11 points.
The Lady Rebels lost a close match with the Lady Tigers in the girls varsity game despite leading 21-19 at halftime.
Centreville outscored ACCS 11-6 in the third quarter and held on to the lead for the win.
Jenny Watts led Centreville with 13 points and Emily Knighton added 10.
Holli Hankins scored 13 points for the Lady Rebels (8-16, 2-4), and Casey Stutzman scored 12.
AC’s junior varsity teams had much better luck with a pair of dominating wins.
In the boys game, the Rebels (15-1, 6-0) slaughtered the Tigers 50-8.
Glenn Williams led AC with 10 points and Luke Ogden, Ray Simpson and Chase Clayton each scored eight.
In the girls game, the Lady Rebels (15-3, 6-0) defeated Centreville 40-12.
Nikki Hankins led AC with eight points. ACCS continues district play Tuesday when the Rebels travel to Copiah.
