RAYMOND – The Huntington Hounds managed only five hits but took advantage of six Central Hinds errors for a 7-3 win in a rain-shortened game Saturday.
Huntington and Central Hinds were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but rain stopped the first game in the fifth inning and cancelled the second game. Huntington improved its overall record to 9-3. Barrett Kiser struck out three and walked only one in three innings to improve his record to 4-0. Will Moak was credited with the save.
After Central Hinds scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead, Huntington took the lead for good by scoring twice in the top of the fifth and added three more runs in the top of the sixth to complete the scoring.
Luke Davis had a double and John Mark Bonnette went 2-for-3 for Huntington.
Dustin Messina was 2-for-3 for Central Hinds.
Huntington returns to MPSA District 5-1A play when it hosts Chamberlain-Hunt at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
