Two players who led their teams to state titles earned top honors on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State teams.

Alicia Rhymes, a 6-0 junior from Loyola Prep of Shreveport, is the girls Class 2A Most Valuable Player after leading the Flyers past St. Frederick-Monroe in the championship game. Rhymes averaged 12.5 points a game for Loyola.

Indiana University signee Donald Perry, who led McCall of Tallulah to the Class 2A crown, is the boys MVP. The 6-1 senior averaged 29.6 points per game, dished out 8.6 assists and averaged 7.6 steals for the Dragons.

Along with Perry, the first team includes Cedric Davis of Many (21.5 ppg), Michael Clayton of Christian Life (20.8 ppg), Tony Robertson of Pine (26.0 ppg) and Ferriday’s Jason Scott (25.2 ppg).

Scott averaged better than 25 points per game, and he led Ferriday (23-12) to the state semifinals for the first time since the school won the state title in 1989.

The boys second team is led by Vidalia’s Jarvis Vaughn (25.1 ppg), Robert Fitzgerald of Newman (14.8 ppg), Marvin White of Port Barre (23.0), St. Thomas Aquinas’ Byron Robertson (30.4 ppg) and Steve Hodge of McCall (18.4).
