JONESVILLE, La. – Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Jonesville man Friday and charged him with the shooting death of his girlfriend, 28-year-old Kristy Dynell Mills.
Russell Lippman, 25, is charged with negligent homicide and was being held on $150,000 bond at Catahoula Parish Jail.
Chief Deputy Ricky White said the charge currently stands at negligent homicide because Lippmman told investigators the shooting was an accident, but a full investigation continues.
White said a negligent act is one that does not involve criminal intent.
&uot;Right now all we know is she was shot and that he shot her,&uot; he said.
No other witnesses were present, he said.
White would not comment on whether the weapon, a 9-mm, belonged to Lippman.
Lippman told investigators he and Mills, who had been living together for some time, were not arguing at the time of the shooting.
Deptuties were called to the couple’s residence on Tanton Road in the Sandy Lake community just after 3 a.m. Friday.
White said investigators believe Lippman told a friend about the shooting, who then called the police.
Mills, a mother of three, died Friday at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday as the result of a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Results of an autopsy have been sent to Catahoula Parish Coroner Raymond Rouse who will review them by the middle of this week.
Services for Mills were held Monday at Sandy Lake Penecostal Church.
