With his appointment to the board of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Natchez native Michael Washington is looking forward to serving his former school.

Washington is a 2000 graduate of the college’s Natchez campus and was recently appointed to serve on its board by the Adams County Board of Supervisors.

&uot;I was very excited about it,&uot; Washington.

As a board member, he will be able to help the school make future plans and &uot;actually to see the school progress for the betterment of the school,&uot; Washington said.

Washington, who is the head teller at the Tracetown Branch of at Britton and Koontz First National Bank, is currently working on his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Alcorn State University’s Natchez campus.

He is a part of the &uot;two-and-two&uot; program, which allows students to attend their first two years of college at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez and then take their last two years of college at Alcorn State University.

As a member of the college’s board, Washington said he wants to make sure that program continues to operate.

&uot;I just feel like it’s very important to maintain and keep that,&uot; he said.

During his time with the Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Washington said he has been impressed with the school.

&uot;It’s just a great school. It really is,&uot; Washington said.

Washington is the son of Mary Jane Washington and is a 1986 graduate from South Natchez High School.

After he completes his bachelor’s degree in December, Washington hopes to begin the MBA program offered locally through Alcorn State University.

Washington will attend his first meeting of the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Board on Thursday.
