Tom Bryant wins Confederate Oil tourney

Tom Bryant overcame a double bogey on the first hole to fire a two-under-par 70 Saturday for a two-day score of 138 to win the 46th annual Confederate Oil Invitational Golf Tournament at Beau Pr\u00E9 Country Club.

Bryant, of Lake Providence,&160;La., won by six shots over John Carlton and Don Lee. Carlton (74-70 144) won a scorecard playoff over Lee (76-68) to claim second place.

&uot;The course was playing short enough where I didn’t need a driver today,&uot; Bryant said. &uot;I like the course.&uot;

In addition to the double bogey, Bryant also had two three-putt bogeys and six birdies.

&uot;The second shot on the first hole, I tried to shoot it down the line, and it went out of bounds,&uot; he said. &uot;That was the only time that I was in any real trouble. I didn’t putt well today. The wind was tough.&uot;

After shooting an 81 on Friday, Dan Bland came back roaring on Saturday with a two-under-par 69 for a final score of 150 to win the first flight.

&uot;Just extremely lucky,&uot; Bland said. &uot;I have a shoulder problem that’s been bothering me, but it didn’t bother me today. I played well above my head.&uot;
