The heavy rain that hit the area during the past couple of days has forced the Vidalia Chamber of Commerce to reschedule its annual golf scramble.

The tourney was to be held today at the Duncan Park Golf Course, but has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 21.

&uot;There is a 70 percent chance of rain tomorrow,&uot; Linda Gardner of the Vidalia Chamber said. &uot;I talked with Marvin Gray at the golfcourse and he said there was already debris on the course from the weather. Even if it is perfect on Thursday (today), the course is not in the best of conditions until it dries out some.&uot;

Seventy-two golfers had signed up to play in the scramble, and Gardner said she needs those players to call her and confirm if they can play on the 21st.

&uot;We can accommodate up to 84 golfers, so if someone wants to play they need to call and let us know,&uot; she said. &uot;I also need those that have signed up to call.&uot;

Gardner can be reached at the chamber by calling (318) 336-8223 or you can call Charlie Blaney, golf scramble chairman, at (318) 336-5371.
