A man who had been arrested in Concordia Parish in connection with a March murder in Natchez was transported across state lines on Wednesday.

Cedric Williams, 41, was being held on a charge of murder for the March shooting-death of Alex Carter, 20, of Natchez.

Police believe Williams shot Carter on Old Smith’s Lane in Natchez, where a school bus driver found his body the next morning.

After his arrest, Williams refused to be extradited and could not be transported back to Mississippi on a warrant until the governors of both states signed off on the requests.

Gov. Ronnie Musgrove signed the paperwork about two weeks ago, and Gov. Mike Foster just recently approved it, said Adams County Sheriff Tommy Ferrell. With the transport complete &uot;we hope they set a speedy trial so we can resolve this issue soon,&uot; said Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff.

Williams was being held without bond Wednesday at the Adams County Jail pending an indictment for murder from the Adams County grand jury.

A second suspect, Brandy H. Forman, 21, of 113 Jim New Road in Ferriday La., was charged with accessory after the fact to murder in connection with the case and is out on bond.

Williams, Forman and the victim are believed to have been acquaintances, and Forman is believed to have driven the get-away vehicle the night of the shooting.
