The baseball season is coming to an end for most of the boys of summer in the Miss-Lou.
Vidalia will hold closing ceremonies tonight at 7 p.m. for both the major and minor leagues, and Natchez Dixie Youth will close out its season on Saturday with a 50th Anniversary celebration starting at 5 p.m.
The baseball season has been another successful one in Vidalia, according to director Mike Bowlin.
&uot;We had 220 kids and 22 teams in four leagues this year,&uot; Bowlin said. &uot;The numbers in the major and minor leagues were about the same as they have been, but we had a surprisingly large group of players in the T-ball and coach-pitch leagues.&uot;
All-stars have already been selected in the Vidalia minor league, and the major league will name its All-Stars during tonight’s ceremonies.
Players in both the major and minor leagues will also get their player participation trophies tonight.
&uot;Our Minor League All-Stars start practice on Saturday will play on June 30 in Gilbert (La.),&uot; Bowlin said. &uot;The Major League All-Stars will play the sub-district tournament starting on July 7 in Jonesville (La.).&uot;
The Vidalia Coach Pitch and T-Ball leagues still have one more week left in the season while they hold the season ending tournaments.
They will close out the season on Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m.
