FERRIDAY, La. – Ferriday police on Tuesday night arrested a man in connection with 10 residential burglaries as well as recent burglaries at the Concordia Sentinel and Dr. Herman Gibson’s office.
Christopher Lee Bastiste, 22, was charged with 10 counts of residential burglary and two counts of business burglary and transferred to Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He was arrested just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday during an attempted burglary at a house on E.E. Wallace Boulevard.
Bastiste gave police the address of his mother – Smith Lane, Apartment 2 in Ferriday – but Police Chief Bobby Sheppard said Bastiste was living on the streets at the time of his arrest.
Although Bastiste allegedly stole $1,000 worth of items in the burglaries, Sheppard said Bastiste was primarily seeking food and shelter.
