PECK, La. – As of Thursday, Louisiana State Police were still searching for the driver of a car that struck and killed a Harlingen, Texas, man Tuesday night on Louisiana 15 in Catahoula Parish.

The victim, 65-year-old Eliberto Contreras, was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m. Wednesday at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport.

At about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Contreras was walking along Louisiana 15 near the Franklin Parish line when he was struck by a maroon mid-size Ford passenger car, witnesses said.
