Three teams finished tied for the lead at The Wharlest Elks Lodge two-person golf scramble at Duncan Park, setting up for a great day of golf action today.
The three teams – Gary Farmer and David Cothern; Pete Judy Powell; and Phillip and Akeem West – all ended up with seven-under pars 64s to cap a solid day of golf.
&uot;Seven-under is not a super scoer,&uot; said Cothern. &uot;It’s not lights out, but nobody seemed to tear it up.&uot;
The team of Cookie Wilson and George Cupit and the twosome of Chuck fields and Ross Hufford are one stroke behind at 65. Dan Scruggs and Lane Morse are in third place with a 66.
The tourney is put on by the lodge for the benefit of junior golf. Tee times will start at 8 a.m. today for every team, with breakfast before the event and lunch to follow.
