Adams County agencies displaced by construction of the Natchez Trace Parkway will need new homes. A Natchez businessman has offered to help.

The Adams County Board of Supervisors is considering a proposal by Donald Shupe, who is willing to construct a building of appropriate size for the agencies and lease it for $800 to $850 a month. The new building would be on Liberty Road. &uot;That’s a very good rental rate,&uot; Brown said.

Supervisor Darryl Grennell said the board is &uot;seriously considering&uot; the idea. &uot;I don’t think we need to delay it too long,&uot; Grennell said.

With the pending arrival of the Natchez Trace into Natchez, supervisors sold two buildings in the 300 block of Liberty Road, where the Trace will meet the road in a large interchange.

The razed buildings housed several agencies that have since moved to temporary locations. These included the Adams County Road Department and the Adams County Sanitation Department.

In other business Monday, the board approved roadwork at DynaSteel on Moran Road near the Natchez-Adams County Port.
