The Ronnie Shows 4th Congressional District tour will stop in Natchez for a 9:30 a.m. meeting Friday at the City Council Chamber.

&uot;We’ll get into Natchez on Thursday to spend the night there,&uot; said media coordinator Burns Strider. &uot;A good many of our staff have never been to Natchez, so Ronnie looks forward to being the tour guide there.&uot;

The meeting is one of 25 the Democratic congressman is making throughout the 15 counties of the district.

Traveling with him are 18 members of his staff, Strider said. They represent the Washington, D.C., congressional office as well as the Mississippi offices and they include legislative specialists and constituent services specialists as well as key aides.

Discussions at the town hall meetings have centered on several themes thus far, Strider said. &uot;People have wanted to talk about the influx of Canadian lumber. They know Ronnie is working on ways to turn that tide.&uot;

At Natchez, topics of concern are expected to include some of the same ones discussed in the other town hall meetings. In addition, Strider expects interest in discussing the Bush Administration’s energy policy. &uot;Ronnie supported the president’s energy policy, but he also has other ideas about helping the small oil producers.&uot;

Another hot topic for Southwest&160;Mississippi is the economy, Strider said. &uot;In general, I think there will be discussion of the Mississippi economy, about federal assistance with job training and getting jobs into the rural areas.&uot;
