NATCHEZ &045; Tony Fields has directed Zion Chapel AME Church’s annual Christmas program before &045; but never as minister of music.
Under his relatively new title, Fields will lead the church’s combined choirs Friday in its biggest musical program of the year. &uot;Everybody really looks forward to it,&uot; Fields said.
About 40 voices will sing traditional Christmas tunes such as &uot;First Noel&uot; and &uot;Joy to the World,&uot; along with more modern holiday songs such as &uot;Mary Did You Know&uot; and &uot;Emmanuel.&uot;
&uot;There’s going to be something for everybody,&uot; Fields said.
Zion Chapel has been preparing for the show for the past four months, Fields said.
Choir member Carlee Reed said she is excited to see Fields &045; who she considers &uot;one of the church’s babies&uot; since he grew up at Zion Chapel &045; directing the show.
The Christmas program will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the church sanctuary. Admission is free.
