Rebels hang on to put away Rams

NATCHEZ &045; If there ever was a time for Wilkinson County Christian Academy to find a confidence booster, Thursday night was it.

The ACCS Rebels had to fight off the feisty Rams and play through some tired legs to take a 51-39 win over WCCA on the school’s Sweetheart Night.

The Rebels (15-8) had to use an 18-12 run in the third quarter to take control of the game over the Class 1A Rams (5-11).

&uot;We’re just leg-tired,&uot; ACCS head coach Ricky Gray said. &uot;We had too many turnovers. We’ve got to get rested now and get well. They did a good job. They defended us real well. You’ve got to give them credit.&uot;

AC led 19-5 by the end of the first before the Rams went on an 11-5 run in the second to put the score at 24-16 at half.

Beau Brashier had 28 for ACCS. WCCA’s top scorer was Adam Ryan with 10.

ACCS girls 50, WCCA 27

The Lady Rebels (15-12) used a solid half to put away WCCA (8-13) early before taking the win. They led 16-8 by the end of the first and outscored the Lady Rams 17-5 in the second to lead 33-13 at halftime.

Kim Robertson led ACCS with 14 points. Caroline Kee led WCCA with nine.
