CENTRAL, La. &045; Adams County Christian School head coach Keith Walters had one goal in mind heading down to Central Private: let his workhorse run.

That senior running back Luke Ogden did to the tune of 381 yards on 38 carries as the Rebels held off those other Rebels 34-21 in a key district 2-AAA South win.

&uot;After those first two games where we didn’t run him much, Luke was like a bull pawing at the ground,&uot; Walters said. &uot;We made up for it tonight. (Central Private’s) headmaster told me he shattered every record there ever was on their home field.&uot;

Ogden accounted for all but one of AC’s five touchdowns as he scored on long runs of 34 and 45 yards and bruising leg-pumping scores of 3 and 12 yards.

Central Private opened the game with a 1-yard touchdown run from its quarterback to take an early 7-0 lead.

AC proceeded to score 21 unanswered points to build a 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter with Ogden runs wrapped around a 13-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Case to David Trisler.

&uot;It really was a wild game. Neither team could stop the other,&uot; Walters said. &uot;They scored on the first drive after the opening kickoff, but we came back. Luke busted that run, and then we got up 21-7.&uot;

But careless fumbles in Central Private territory allowed the CP Rebels to creep back into the contest and tie the game up with a 3-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

&uot;Central Private is a good football team &045; a lot better than we thought they were,&uot; Walter said. &uot;They threw the ball a lot better than I thought they would. The running plays that were effective wasn’t anything we hadn’t worked on in practice.&uot;

Walters credited his offensive line for stepping up big in crunch time, stretching open big holes for the oak tree Ogden to run through.

&uot;We did what we had to do to win. I’m extremely proud of them.&uot; he said. &uot;It’s a huge win for us. It’s one of the biggest at AC in a long time. If we can continue it with Copiah Academy next week, we’ll be in good shape.&uot;

Huntington 6, CM&I 0 OT

FERRIDAY, La. &045; If CM&I keeps this up, it’ll be known for more than just basketball.

The Crusaders battled Huntington to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation before the Hounds converted on a third-down situation in the first overtime to take the win.

&uot;They were tough on defense,&uot; Huntington assistant Bo Swilley said. &uot;We did

not look good on offense. My hat goes off to CM&I.; They played hard. They got after us all

night, and we had been a pretty good offensive team.&uot;

The Hounds got inside the red zone four times but couldn’t score. CM&I, however, got in the red zone once late in the game after cashing in a turnover but couldn’t punch it in.

Centreville 29, Brookhaven 0

BROOKHAVEN &045; Centreville junior quarterback Jennings Field threw two touchdown passes to Daniel Hall, and Blake Devall ran for two touchdowns as the Tigers cruised to a win over the Brookhaven Academy Cougars.

Field had the best game of his career at Centreville, going 6-for-7 for 144 yards as the Tigers improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in MPSA District 4-AA play.

Field threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Hall with 8:45 to go in the first quarter and the two connected on another touchdown pass, this one a 46-yarder with 15 seconds left in the third quarter.

Devall scored twice before halftime to give Centreville a commanding 21-0 halftime lead.

WCCA 46, Union 6

GEORGETOWN &045; The Rams’ power running game, which amassed 357 yards, and tough defense easily offset two turnovers and no passing yards as they finally got their first win of the season.

WCCA (1-2) jumped out a 34-6 halftime lead on touchdown runs of 5 and 31 yards by Duston Dor, 13 and 6 yards by Travis Allen and 3 yards by Randy Harris.

Allen led the Rams in rushing with 132 yards on 11 carries. Dor had 60 yards on just four carries.

Tallulah 34, Tensas 0

TALLULAH, La. &045; The Trojans rushing attack was more than the Tensas defense could handle as Tallulah racked up 209 yards in the shutout.

Cade Marsh led the way with 84 yards on 18 carries, including touchdown runs of 8 and 25, which were logged in as the game’s first two scores.

A John Dikes 1-yard plunge with 8:41 left before halftime made it 21-0.

Preston Walker and Cole Grissom notched up scoring runs of 7 and 6 yards, respectively, to put more distance between their team and the Chiefs.
