NATCHEZ &045; Bill Mosby and Carl Voss didn’t play their best Sunday, but they played just good enough to win the third annual Good Old Fellows Invitational Golf Tournament at Beau Pr Country Club.

Thanks to a two-point par on the par-5 18th hole by Mosby, the Mosby-Voss team finished with one point on Sunday and a two-day total of +17 points to win by a slim one-half of a point.

&uot;Bill &uot;Rush&uot; Mosby Jr. won it for us,&uot; Voss said. &uot;My partner played his career round today. He’s a fine gentleman and a good golfer. Chairman Charles Johnson put on a good tournament. The weather was perfect. It was a good weekend.&uot;

Mosby was happy he and Voss &uot;barely&uot; took first place after losing their lead to Charles Cooper and Craig Bradford heading into No. 18.

Mosby also said that he and Voss played &uot;not as good&uot; as Saturday, &uot;but good enough to win.&uot;

Cooper and Bradford had nine and one-half points on Sunday to finish with 16 and 1/2 points and a strong second-place finish.

&uot;Dr. John McGee is my inspiration and my golf coach,&uot; Bradford said. &uot;I have to give a lot of credit to my partner. We played steady. My lesson the other day from the pro, Mark Powell, helped me out.&uot;

In a tournament where Beau Pr members are 60 years old and older who invite someone from out of town, Bradford was the lone exception, Voss noted.

Johnson and Ray Collier had nine points on Sunday to finish third with a two-day total of 15 points.

&uot;My brother-in-law from Dallas (Collier) played great today,&uot; Johnson said. &uot;That was our secret.&uot;

Jim Mullins and Dr. Tom Purvis, who had 15 points and were just one point behind Mosby and Voss at the completion of Saturday’s play, lost one-half of a point to finish fourth with 14 and 1/2 points.

The defending championship team of Pap Ferguson and Paul Arceneaux struggled over the weekend and finished with a total of nine points, despite having seven of those points on Sunday.

&uot;We played the back nine really well,&uot; Arceneaux said. &uot;We played as good as we could. It was a wonderful tournament. Everybody’s friendly.&uot;

&uot;We both contributed toward the effort,&uot; Ferguson said. &uot;We did a little better than we did yesterday. But we missed some makable putts.&uot;

Arceneaux and Ferguson finished tied for fifth with Jim Overton and Billy Dale.

&uot;We played a whole lot better today thant we did yesterday,&uot; Overton said. &uot;I had one birdie on 13 and he had one on 7.&uot;
