NATCHEZ &045;&045; During a second meeting this month, constituents have come before the Adams County Board of Supervisors about drainage problems in their neighborhoods &045;&045; water coming off the roads eroding their yards.
Monday morning, Ben Hammond and other residents in Prince Addition asked the board to do something to divert the water from &uot;washing out our land,&uot; Mary Clark said.
The constituents asked the board to come see the problem for themselves.
The board can only fix a problem on private property if the county road is causing the water problem.
This exact problem has been addressed before, and the federal government has approved partial funding, 75 percent, if the other 25 percent funding is provided by the board.
The funding was not provided in the past.
&uot; Many of these have not gotten fixed because the county does not have the match,&uot; District 3 Supervisor Thomas &uot;Boo&uot; Campbell said.
There is now an ordinance in place about drainage in new subdivisions, but there was not when this subdivision was built, board Vice President Darryl Grennell said, which is part of the problem.
The board voted to survey what can be done to reduce or eliminate as much water coming off the road as possible and do it.
