&uot;It appears that Ms. Harper was unable to avoid striking Mrs. Stampley’s vehicle,&uot; Mullins said.

Stampley was pronounced dead at the scene and Harper was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released. Neither car had a passenger.

Mullins said the police are still talking to witnesses and the Mississippi Highway Patrol is examining the physical evidence to determine the cause of the accident.

Mullins said the vehicle was totaled in the accident but Highway Patrol has sent in an accident reconstruction team to investigate. Mullins said there was no indication drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
