EDGARD, La. &045; West St. John wasted no time in jumping on top of Ferriday with a 28-point first quarter and cruised to a 42-0 win over the Trojans Friday night in the bi-district round of the Class 2A playoffs.

The second-seeded Rams (11-1) held Ferriday quarterback Scotty Cage to just 100 passing yards on the night and the Trojans had negative rushing yards &045; 14 carries for minus-25 yards.

&uot;I thought we played well,&uot; Rams head coach Laury Dupont said. &uot;The second half we were a little complacent. The first half we played pretty well.&uot;

Patrick Jackson, who led West St. John in rushing with 87 yards, scored three of the Rams’ four first-quarter touchdowns.

Rams quarterback Josh Lumar hooked up with wide receiver Thomas Augusta on a 34-yard touchdown pass as the home team took a 28-0 lead.

&uot;That’s what we’ve been doing all year,&uot; Dupont said. &uot;Jackson and (Quinn Johnson) complement each other. We’re not a one-dimensional team.&uot;

Ferriday, on the other hand, was not able to get anything going offensively as Cage was picked off twice by the Rams defense.
