LIBERTY &045; Huntington head coach Penny Moak doesn’t mean to sound redundant.

But here in another District 7-A game, another one of her Huntington Lady Hounds stepped up big time in a 38-27 win over Amite School Center.

This time it was Emily Anders’ 11 points that helped the Lady Hounds to a win. While Whitney Bradford and Erin Hedrick combined for 14, getting double digits from someone not named Bradford and Hedrick helps out a bunch.

&uot;We’ve had different ones each night,&uot; Moak said. &uot;If they can just come on at the same time, it’s going to be great. I’m hoping they’re saving it for the district tournament.&uot;

The Lady Hounds (10-12, 3-4) were able to make some key adjustments at halftime against the bigger Lady Rebels. After trailing 19-14 at halftime, Moak said she went to a full-court man &045; resulting in an 18-4 rally for a 32-23 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

&uot;They’re a pretty big team, and we started out playing a zone,&uot; Moak said. &uot;I thought they would beat us on the inside. I decided they couldn’t handle the ball very well, and we went to a full-court man to man. That’s what did it.&uot;

Block 72, Davidson 51

JONESVILLE, La. &045; It’s the start of District 4-1A for the rebuilding Block Lady Bears, but Friday’s game looked kind of like the Lady Bears of old in starting off with a win.

Block held a 51-42 lead heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Lady Warriors 21-9 to close it out. The Lady Bears held a 16-14 lead after the first and a 31-25 lead at the break over Davidson (8-8, 0-2).

Ashley Green led Block with 23.

Central Private 50, Trinity 27

NATCHEZ &045; Despite a dominating first, Lady Rebels Hugh Webb probably wasn’t pleased with his team’s effort.

Especially in the second half when the Lady Rebels had an opportunity to make what was a 21-point halftime lead a whole lot larger by game’s end.

And even though Stefanie Kirkwood scored 15 points and Samantha Kirkwood had 12 points to lead the Lady Rebels, they didn’t have the dominating performances that they had throughout much of the season.

But what kept the outcome of the game from being worse was the fact that the Lady Saints played better and more aggressive in the second half &045; especially in the fourth quarter when Central Private (21-4) scored just three points.

Mallory Archer led the Lady Saints with 10 points.

Columbia Academy 52, Centreville 39

CENTREVILLE &045; Even though the Lady Tigers kept it close in this MPSA District 4-AA matchup they couldn’t over the hump or stop the Lady Cougars’ duo of Anna Peterson and Taryn Magee Friday night.

And despite getting 16 points from Jenae Jackson, Centreville (8-11, 2-6) trailed at the end of all four quarters to the Lady Cougars (7-11, 3-3).

McCall 107, Vidalia 37

TALLULAH, La. &045; This District 4-2A matchup was actually a mismatch pitting the best team in district against a team with no wins.

All seven Lady Dragon (22-0, 2-0) players who scored ended up scoring in double figures, led by Tiffany White with 25 points.

Dominique Trimble led Vidalia (0-8, 0-1) with 21 points.

Franklin 71, Jefferson 35

MEADVILLE &045; Things got ugly in a hurry for the Lady Tigers Friday. The Lady Bulldogs tortured their opponent with their press, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes.

Victoria Hunt had 10 of her game-high 20 points in the opening period, as Franklin County was able to get out and run past the Lady Tigers’ version of a press.

&uot;The last couple of games we haven’t had a chance to get out in transition like we’ve wanted to,&uot; FC head coach Charles Moore said. &uot;The press helped us get some quick turnovers. We’re at our best when we can use our athleticism.&uot;

Eventually, Jefferson County began to figure its way through the Franklin County press.

getting easy layups from Donella Shorter, who led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

However, the final resting place had already been dug and Jefferson County only managed to cut its deficit to as few as 21 in the second half.
