JACKSON &045; The Adams Christian Rebels knew how important their MPSA District 2-AAA game against Jackson Prep was &045; win and they still had a shot at the overall No. 1 seed at South State.

Instead, the Rebels ran into injury and foul problems and had no answer for Jackson Prep’s Jo Jo Tann, who lit them up for 25 points in a 66-48 win Friday night.

&uot;Jo Jo Tann was the difference in the game,&uot; ACCS head coach John R. Gray said. &uot;He did a good job penetrating (to the basket).

&uot;I was proud of my team. We stayed in the game until Casey (Gould) went out with fouls.&uot;

ACCS (14-3, 6-2) fell behind early and trailed 16-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Jackson Prep (17-4, 4-1) then outscored the Rebels 17-13 in the second quarter to take a 33-24 halftime lead. It was in the second quarter when the injury bug hit ACCS.

&uot;Luke (Ogden) got a knee on his thigh,&uot; Gray said. &uot;He played hurt for two-and-a-half quarters.&uot;

Ogden still finished with 12 points. AC was led by Glenn Williams with 16 points.

The Rebels tried to stay in the game, but Gould fouled out in the third quarter and Prep took advantage, outscoring the visitors 22-19 in the third quarter and 11-5 in the fourth quarter.

&uot;They’re just a good team,&uot; Gray said. &uot;Quick as cats. They made so many outside shots. I couldn’t sub because of their quickness and size.&uot;
