NATCHEZ &045; Stacy Weaver scored twice in the second half as the Natchez High Lady Bulldogs overcame a sluggish first half to defeat the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 4-1 Tuesday night at Tom F. Williams Stadium.

Franklin County scored within the first 10 minutes of the game for a 1-0 lead, which the visiting Lady Bulldogs maintained for the rest of the second half &045; and Natchez coach Dennis Hogue was not too pleased with his team’s performance.

Hogue noted that Natchez (6-5) was not aggressive enough in the first half.

&uot;I told my girls to attack, be more aggressive,&uot; Hogue said.

Franklin County 3, Natchez boys 1

NATCHEZ &045; Franklin County took a 1-0 lead at halftime on a header and scored its second goal after a questionable call early in the second half for a 2-0 lead.

Robin Blake scored the only goal for Natchez (4-7) when Brandon Lewis passed it to Matthew Henderson, who passed it to Blake, who zipped the shot past the Bulldog goalkeeper.

&uot;I was proud of my guys. They played with a lot of heart,&uot; Hogue said. &uot;Franklin County plays a physical, aggressive style of soccer.&uot;

Cathedral boys 3, McComb 3

McCOMB &045; Just when it seemed that the Green Wave had this game wrapped up with a 3-1 lead, the Tigers had an answer &045; the penalty kick &045; as this game ended up in a tie.

&uot;Both teams played really well,&uot; Green Wave coach Rick Freeman said. &uot;McComb really played tough. They changed their style of play from the first time we played them.&uot;

Nicholas Anderson scored at the 37:00 mark of the first half for a 1-0 lead.

Cathedral (8-2-3) then got a goals from John Paul Kenda with 15 minutes to go in the first half and when a kick bounced into the ney off a McComb player’s hand with 11 minutes remaining in the game for the 3-1 lead.

But the Tigers answered as they scored on a pair of penalty kicks.

McCOMB &045; After being held without a single shot in the first half, the Lady Green Wave tried to rally in the second half Tuesday night.

McComb finished with 23 shots to four for Cathedral (3-10).

McComb led 1-0 at halftime before Kate Ellard scored at the 32 minute mark of the second half for a 1-1 tie.

&uot;We played the best game of the season tonight,&uot; Lady Green Wave coach Christine Krupa said. &uot;Jamie Greer played goalkeeper tonight. She did an outstanding job. Our forwards did a great job.&uot;

But the Lady Tigers won the game on a penalty kick with less than two minutes left.

&uot;McComb has a great team,&uot; Krupa said. &uot;They moved the ball well.&uot;

Adams Christian doubleheader with Lamar moved up Saturday

NATCHEZ &045; Officials at Adams County Christian School announced Saturday’s home contest with Lamar School will begin earlier than scheduled.

The varsity girls will begin at 2 p.m., and the varsity boys will follow at 3:30 p.m. No B team games will be played.
