Defendants enter guilty pleas during Amite County court term

LIBERTY &045;&045; Several criminal defendants recently entered guilty pleas and were sentenced in Amite County Circuit Court by Sixth Circuit Judge Forrest A. Johnson.

A synopsis of the court’s action, according to documents filed in the Circuit Clerk’s office:

Brenda Kay McGraw Rosso pled guilty to fraudulent use of identifying information to obtain a thing of value.

Rosso was sentenced to five years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

After serving one year under house arrest, the balance of the term will be suspended and Rosso will be placed on post-release supervision.

Sarah Kathleen Wedig pled guilty to grand larceny.

Wedig was sentenced to three years in the MDOC.

After serving one year under house arrest, the balance of the term will be suspended and Wedig will be placed on post-release supervision.

Floyd Dennis Nichols pled guilty to felony third offense DUI.

Nichols was sentenced to three years in the MDOC. After serving one year under house arrest, the balance of the term will be suspended and Nichols will be placed on post-release supervision.

Nichols was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.

Mitchell D. Jackson pled guilty to burglary of a dwelling.

Jackson was sentenced to 10 years in the MDOC.

After serving five years, the balance of the term will be suspended and Jackson will be placed on post-release supervision.

Lee Roy Varnado pled guilty to introduction and possession of a controlled substance in a county jail.

Varnado’s sentencing was delayed.

Mary Lee Bland pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting the arrest of another.

Bland was sentenced to three months in the Amite County Jail.

The jail term was suspended, and Bland was placed on non-reporting probation for three years and ordered to pay a $250 fine.

Staved Blackmon pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting the arrest of another.

Blackmon was sentenced to three months in the Amite County Jail.

The jail term was suspended, and Blackmon was placed on non-reporting probation for three years and ordered to pay a $250 fine.

Herbert Blackmon pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting the arrest of another.

Blackmon was sentenced to three months in the Amite County Jail.

The jail term was suspended, and Blackmon was placed on non-reporting probation for three years and ordered to pay a $250 fine.

Jerry M. Blackmon pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting the arrest of another.

Blackmon was sentenced to three months in the Amite County Jail.

The jail term was suspended, and Blackmon was placed on non-reporting probation for three years and ordered to pay a $250 fine.
