VIDALIA, La. &045; Not only is Ferriday getting a Subway restaurant, Subway officials have confirmed Vidalia is as well.
A new strip mall on the corner of Carter and Cross streets in Vidalia has commitments for a Subway restaurant, a loan company, a video store and a home health agency, according to builder Dick Ayres, whose company, Petron Inc., is building the mall.
Ayres did not name any of the owners of the proposed tenants.
Ayres said last week the mall was about 70 percent leased.
&uot;We want to be opened by the first of May,&uot; Ayres said.
Development Director Matthew Hughes with the Subway regional office in New Orleans, confirmed Vidalia and Ferriday were opening Subway restaurants.
Hughes said the Ferriday restaurant, which is located in the Exxon that is being remodeled at the corner of Louisiana Avenue and E.E. Wallace Boulevard, should be opened within three weeks; the Vidalia restaurant has at least another month until opening.
Diane Thornton, of Wurster Oil Company in Jonesville, owns the property but said Ayres was handling the leasing of the spaces.
