Published 12:00 am Friday, September 17, 2004
Copiah County Marriage Records (1844-1859), compiled by Miss Mary E. Thomas, is now being offered for sale by the Copiah Chapter DAR in Crystal Springs. The price is $20 postpaid. Those interested should write or call Mrs. Lloyd W. Kitchens, Genealogical Records Chairman, 606 N. Jackson St., Crystal Springs, MS 39059, (601) 892-2139.
Some years back family members updated and reprinted the BALA CHITTO SIMMONS family genealogy, a book which was orginally written by Hansford L. Simmons.
This is the story of Richard and Ann Tyler Simmons, who had 10 children and moved to Pike County from South Carolina around 1810. The children married into the Varnado, Strickland, Hope, Sandifer and other South Mississippi families.
Due to age and health reasons the family is now scaling down and still has 12-15 copies of the book available. If anyone is interested, please contact Bess Simmons at (601) 684-5679.
