NATCHEZ &045;&045; Waycaster and Associates received permission Tuesday morning from the county to advertise for construction bids on the Venco project.
The Board of Supervisors approved Johnny Waycaster’s request to open the bids in February and hopefully start construction in March.
&uot;We want to be ready when the weather breaks in early March to begin construction,&uot; Waycaster told the board.
He also presented the board with preliminary reports on the construction site.
Supervisor S.E. &uot;Spanky&uot; Felter questioned the size of the facility, saying original plans were for 300 feet, but the preliminary report only included 200 feet.
Felter also asked about job prospects, but the board agreed those topics would be for executive session.
Waycaster was asked to stay available through executive session.
At the request of President Darryl Grennell the board approved the relocation of the District 4 Carpenter voting precinct. The precinct has most recently been located at Cathedral School but will be moved to Rose Hill Baptist Church on Madison Street.
Grennell said the administration at Cathedral had stated they would like to see the precinct moved.
The board also passed a motion made by Supervisor Henry Watts to ban cell phone use from all meetings including executive session.
Watts said he felt the ringing phones and conversations were rude and distracting.
