NATCHEZ &045; Like a bad dream, the turnovers and missed shots came back in full force for the Cathedral Lady Wave Friday.

Not that it’s a familiar nemesis this season. The Lady Wave has cut down its turnovers and done a better job at times hitting from the field, but on Friday neither worked as Pelahatchie came away with a 39-32 win in Division 7-1A action.

&uot;We were 12 of 47 from the field &045; shots we shoot every day, every day, every day,&uot; Cathedral head coach Kathy Graning said. &uot;We have a hard time making them. We scored 50 points against MSD and turn around and score 32 tonight. That’s about it &045; 12 of 47.&uot;

The missed shots from under the basket were more than Graning could stand to watch, and the Lady Chiefs capitalized on the missed and ran the floor well enough to maintain the lead for most of the game.

Cathedral picked it up at the end of the third quarter when Kristian Dobard put in four of her 12 points in the final 30 seconds to trim the Pelahatchie lead to 33-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

Monterey 48, Weston 47

MONTEREY, La. &045; Monterey (16-7) trailed 38-37 heading into the fourth quarter but got the edge in the fourth to claim the one-point win. The Lady Wolves led 29-27 at halftime.

Adams Christian boys 44, Parklane 42

MCCOMB &045; The Rebels held Parklane to just 11 points in the fourth quarter and had some key shots at the end to win it. Clay Floyd hit a huge 3-pointer to tie it up with under a minute left, and Timmy Foster hit the game-winning shot just before time expired for the win.

&uot;It was a big win for us, coming down from 11 down,&uot; AC head coach Kyle Smith said. &uot;We had to battle back and really fight back to get the lead in the fourth quarter and win the ball game. We played great defense &045; excellent, excellent defense tonight.&uot;

Weston boys 89, Monterey 45

MONTEREY, La. &045; Weston led 27-10 after the first quarter and 54-20 at halftime. Fourteen players scored for Weston.

Matt Shively led Monterey (2-16) with 14 points.

Tensas boys 51, Huntington 41

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; Tensas (5-7, 2-0) led by just three, 20-17, at halftime and were still having a tough time pulling away from Huntington (4-10, 0-2) in the third quarter.

Wilkinson boys 81, Franklinton (La.) 42

MAGNOLIA &045; Wilkinson County (8-9) took a 28-10 lead after one quarter of play and then led at halftime 41-19. Things got even worse for Franklinton in the third quarter.

Ferriday boys 41, Sicily Island 36

SICILY ISLAND, La. &045; Ferriday (17-5) found the going tough in the first half as the Trojans took a slim 18-15 lead into halftime, but a 13-7 edge in the third quarter gave them some much-needed breathing room going into the fourth quarter.

Mangham boys 55, Block 41

JONESVILLE, La. &045; Block (0-14) got off to a sluggish start on both ends of the court in the first quarter and the result was a 17-4 lead at the end of that quarter for the Dragons.

Port Gibson 53, Franklin girls 48

PORT GIBSON &045; Port Gibson outscored Franklin County 16-13 to take a surprising 33-20 halftime lead and went into the locker room with a lot of confidence.

Parklane girls 52, Adams Christian 48

MCCOMB &045; Parklane (18-4) could have had a chance to put the game out of reach after taking a 25-18 halftime lead, but ACCS (13-5) stayed in the game throughout the second half.

Wilkinson County girls 53, South Pike 48

MAGNOLIA &045; Wilkinson County took a 43-30 lead at the end of the third quarter. South Pike scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, but the 13-point deficit was too much of a hole to dig out of.

Brookhaven boys 62, Trinity 28

BROOKHAVEN &045; An aggressive Cougar defense and fast-breaking offense proved too much for Trinity.

The Saints made a small comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Brookhaven 16-12, but the Cougars put a stamp on the win in the fourth, holding Trinity to just one point.

The highlight for Trinity happened early on, when the Saints took a 4-0 lead just more than a minute into the contest. But by halftime, the game was already out of hand as the Cougars took a 31-9 lead into the locker room.

The game threatened to turn ugly at several points in the first half, as hard fouls nearly led to scuffling more than once.

Stevan Ridley led the Saints with 12 points. Troy Lynch headed up the Cougars with 25

Tensas 70, Huntington 22

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; This MPSA District 7-A matchup turned out to be anything but a good game as the Lady Chiefs, the No. 4 team in the Democrat’s private school girls poll, dominated from start to finish.

Tensas (11-6, 2-0) was led by Aubrey McEacharn with a game-high 20 points and Tabitha Howard had 19. Huntington (9-9, 1-1) was led by Marie Miller with eight points.

Ferriday 59, Sicily Island 29

SICILY ISLAND, La. &045; The Lady Trojans, the No. 7 team in the Democrat’s public school girls poll, did a good job defensively on Rockel Gary and held the Lady Tigers to single digits in three of the four quarters en route to an easy 30-point win.

Ferriday (16-3) held Gary to just 17 points and no other player for Sicily Island scored in double figures. Jameca Garrison led the Lady Trojans with 24 points and Kiawanna McDowell had 13.

Mangham 65, Block 38

JONESVILLE, La. &045; Brittany and Lausmeka Dix combined to score more points by themselves, 45, then the Lady Bears ended up with as a team as the Lady Dragons rolled to an easy win.

Brittany Dix led Mangham with a game-high 24 points while Lausmeka Dix had 21. Ashley Green led Block (7-7) with 19 points and Corinthia Green added 11.
