WCCA knocks off Prentiss Christian; Silliman stuns Trinity

WOODVILLE &045; Wilkinson Christian moved into first place in MPSA District 6-A with an impressive 64-51 win over the team that was undefeated in district play, the Prentiss Christian Saints.
The Rams led at the end of all four quarters, even though the biggest gap between them and the Saints at the end of each quarter was five points &045; and that was the fourth quarter.
Greg Garner led WCCA (9-10, 9-1) with a game-high 24 points and Taylor Fontenot had 11. Micah Miller had 14 points and Steven Griffith had 11 for Prentiss Christian (11-9, 8-1).
Natchez High 82, Forest Hill 65
NATCHEZ &045; Natchez (3-1, 13-7) put up a 38-21 lead at halftime and jumped on the Rebels at the start of the third quarter. Keyshun Tinsley hit a three-point play 10 seconds in, and Rodney Gray followed that with a buckets for a 43-21 lead. The Bulldogs later put together a 11-2 run that Jason Bruce capped off with two free throws with 56 seconds left for a 58-33 lead.
Tinsley put in consecutive buckets early in the fourth quarter for a 64-43 Natchez lead over the Rebels (2-1, 12-8). An 8-0 later that Bruce finished off with a free throw put the score for a 73-51 lead with 3:03 left.
Cathedral 52, Enterprise 50
ENTERPRISE &045; Another game that went down to the wire for the Green Wave, and the players may get to a point where they don’t know any other way.
The game came down to the final seconds after the Wave missed two free throws with eight seconds left. The Hornets came down a tried a shot from 3-point land but came empty, and they couldn’t get a putback to fall before time expired.
Silliman 37, Trinity Episcopal 26
NATCHEZ &045; It’s understandable that the Saints lost to No. 1 Brookhaven Academy recently. But to play the way the Saints did against arguably the worst team in District 4-AA is, well, not.
In an ugly first half, Trinity (12-7, 5-3) led 14-9 at halftime. But Silliman somehow got its offense going and outscored the Saints 28-12 in the second half to pull off the huge upset.
Tensas 60, Tallulah Academy 35
TALLULAH, La. &045; Zach Jones led four Tensas players in double figures with 18 points and Tyler White had 16 as the Chiefs (7-8, 3-1) rolled to an impressive win over the Trojans.
Hazlehurst 64, Wilkinson County 50
WOODVILLE &045; The Indians rallied in the second half by outscoring the Wildcats 13-9 in the third quarter and 27-14 in the fourth quarter in a key Division 7-3A game for both teams.
Davidson 68, Ferriday 64 (OT)
FERRIDAY, La. &045; Karry Washington scored 22 points and Mark Winston had 18 as the Warriors (8-4) outscored the Trojans (17-7) 8-4 in overtime to pull off a huge win. Eric Crump and Dominique Myles led Ferriday with 14 points each.
