NATCHEZ &045; A man suspected of stealing 14 guns from a U.S. 61 residence in September is in custody at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Ronny Brown said investigators have been working hard to make an arrest in what he described as one of the largest recent burglaries in the county.

Anthony Carl Clark, 50, 1396 Gillcrest Farm Road, Wake Forrest, N.C., is charged with burglary of a dwelling and is being held for a parole violation in North Carolina. Bond is set at $20,000.

Clark is suspected of breaking into the U.S. 61 South residence on Sept. 20 through the back door and exiting through the front.

Owners returned to find the damaged back door and car tracks in the yard.

In addition to the guns the homeowner reported missing a cherry jewelry box containing 15 rings, 30 earrings, 15 bracelets and 12 necklaces. The box and jewelry were valued at $300.

Officers suspect the burglar used a sheet from the bed to carry the stolen items from the house.

A neighbor reported seeing an older blue car driven by a white male in his 30s or 40s driving slowly in the neighborhood.

Brown said investigators are working with North Carolina authorities to recover the guns and jewelry, which they believe was sold to pawn and gun shops from Mississippi to North Carolina.
