Man charged in armed robbery

NATCHEZ &045; An Adams County man was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with two robberies in a 24-hour period, authorities said.

Jeffery Clark, 39, of 18 Prince Addition, was charged with armed robbery and was being held in the Adams County Jail on a $150,000 bond as of press time.

Clark was also expected to be charged with armed robbery by Natchez police Wednesday evening in connection with another burglary earlier that morning.

Authorities said Clark allegedly robbed a restaurant on U.S. 61 South at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. That robbery happened just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

At about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Clark allegedly robbed the Tom’s Pick and Pack convenience store on U.S. 61 North.

The robber &uot;only got $1 in that robbery. The clerk saw it was a plastic toy gun,&uot; Sheriff Ronny Brown said. The gun later turned out to be a pellet pistol.

Based on the clerk’s description of the vehicle, deputies on Parkway Drive stopped a gray Toyota being driven by Clark, then arresting him and two passengers.

Clifton Lamar Hoggatt, 39, of 5 major blvd., and Marjorie Ann Hoggatt, 33, of 2-B Saragossa Road, were each charged with accessory to robbery after the fact. They are being held at the Adams County Jail on $75,000 bonds.

Those arrested aren’t thought to be connected with the earlier robbery of a Shell gas station, Brown said.
