Newest generation learns the ropes of horseback riding

Monday was the first time Kristopher Snyder, 7, ever rode a horse and he wasn’t so sure he liked it.
That was, however, until his sister, Serenity Jones, 6, who had ridden a horse once before, joined him atop &uot;Fireball,&uot; the aptly named young stud.
Snyder and Jones, of Norristown, Penn., bobbed along echoing nervous giggles as their cousin, Frances Duncan, of Natchez, guided his horse.
It was a scene that has repeated itself for generations on the family’s stretch of land in Ridgecrest.
The trio was just a few of the many family members who had gathered there from all areas of the country this weekend to celebrate the 90th birthday of the family matriarch, Edith Snyder.
After a while, it was time for the children’s father, Karl Snyder, to see if he could still ride like he did before moving his family to the Pennsylvania city.
&uot;It was great,&uot; Jones said of her ride as she watched her father gallop across the pasture.
