VIDALIA &045; An early morning drug store burglary ended on the Mississippi River bridge with the arrest of two Natchez residents Wednesday.

Vidalia Police officers arrested Charoyd Henrence Bell, 24, 1 Carriage Lane, and Tyren Chedel Allen, 25, 805 East Oak St., on charges of attempted burglary of a pharmacy.

Police Chief Billy Hammers said Officers Donnie Free, Arthur Lewis and Michael Jackson responded to the call when the alarm at Reeves Drug Store went off just before 4 a.m.

An officer was able to obtain the tag number of a car seen leaving the pharmacy and radioed ahead to other patrol units.

Free spotted the car and attempted to stop the vehicle, which did not respond to blue lights and sirens, the police report said. Free followed the vehicle across the bridge where he reported seeing the passenger attempt to throw something over the bridge.

The officer moved in front of the vehicle and slowed until it stopped.

He reported seeing narcotics in plain view in the vehicle and called for a narcotics unit.

In addition to the burglary charges, Bell and Allen faces charges of resisting/flight from an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance schedule II, possession of a controlled substance schedule V and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bell had one previous offense of possession of marijuana.

Allen also faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance schedule IV.

Both men were transferred to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office jail and had not yet been given bond.
