Sheriff’s office questioning one person, following leads in Brown murder

NATCHEZ &045;&045; Law enforcement officials are interviewing a person of interest in the investigation of an Adams County man’s death, but they could release no details about the investigation Thursday.

&uot;They’re investigating all leads,&uot; District Attorney Ronnie Harper said. &uot;They’re following several leads and making some progress.&uot;

Marshal &uot;Mark&uot; Brown, 46, was found dead Monday in his RV, which was parked outside Wayne’s Auto where he worked. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Meanwhile, services for Brown will be held at 10 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home’s Union Street chapel.

Brown is survived by his parents, Catherine and Jimmy Hibbs of Vidalia, La., and Gene and Pat Brown of Natchez; three brothers, two sisters; a number of nieces and nephews. His family said he also had a devoted dog, Buddy.

Authorities have estimated Brown could have been dead for more than 12 hours. The last known contact with him was around 8:30 or 9 p.m. Sunday.

No murder weapon has been found, and Sheriff Ronny Brown has said the case is not being considered a robbery.

Sheriff’s investigators have not released the cause of death.
