FERRIDAY &045; One man is in custody following gunfire at a town park Monday.
Dandrell Lamar Holmes, 17, 107 Myers St., Ferriday, is charged with aggravated assault for firing a firearm in the city limits, Ferriday Police Chief Investigator Richard Madison said.
Holmes, two juveniles and some others went to the park on the 800 block of First Street for a fight. The involved parties have been involved in a feud for sometime, Madison said.
&uot;They were attempting to engage in a fight for an unknown reason, but they disengaged,&uot; Madison said. &uot;The subject pulled out the 9 mm, fired at the guy and the weapon jammed.&uot;
No one was injured in the incident.
Madison took the weapon to a crime lab Tuesday to determine if it actually fired and whether casings found at the scene match the gun.
The park is located in a neighborhood near the post office in Ferriday.
No bond has been set for Holmes yet.
Madison said the investigation was ongoing.
